Kullerstrand Elementary School would like to welcome you to our brand new website!

Principal's Message

January, 2019

Dear Kullerstrand Families,

Happy New Year! We hope that you had a wonderful break with your kids. I always looking forward to our spring semester because it is during this time that we see the all around growth that students are achieving. Growth comes in many forms such as their reading and math skills and as well as their social and personal growth.  I look forward to continuing to watch this learning and growth with our staff and students.

“To make a difference, be the difference.” Julian Hall

Be The Difference
Be Kind
Be Creative
Be Brave
Be A Leader
Be Inspiring
Be A Risk Taker
Be Unstoppable
Be Yourself

These words are the foundation of our theme this year.  These words will empower, strengthen, encourage, and inspire not only our students, but our teachers and staff as well.

As we continue through the school year, we are energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of all of our students.  Our teachers and staff dedicate themselves to providing our students with a safe, positive learning environment that supports their growth academically and socially.   We know that the most important ingredient for students’ learning is their classroom teacher.  At Kullerstrand, we have an amazingly talented and dedicated staff that work together to provide students with what is needed to support and challenge their learning during the school day.

At Kullerstrand, we value partnerships with our parent community to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of all students.  We welcome and appreciate our parent and community volunteers, and encourage you to participate on Kullerstrand’s Accountability Committee and PTA.

Thank you for your commitment to Kullerstrand.   If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at or by phone 303-982-1780.

What's Happening

Second Step Focus of the Week:

What makes a good plan?

  • The order makes sense.
  • There is enough time to do it.
  • It's not too complicated.
  • It's realistic, and you're able to do it.

What is Second Step?

Mental Heath Tip:

Avoid labels and give growth-mindset praise

  • Don't label yourself in ways that model a "fixed mindset" (e.g. I was never good at math)
  • Shift your child's attention to process that led to outcome
  • Praise and value effort, practice, self-correction and persistence
  • Don't shelter your child from a failed task. Ask "what can you learn from this experience? What could you try differently the next time?"

Kullerstrand is a community that nurtures and empowers the whole child. We focus on building positive relationships and instilling a passion for learning. Using one-to-one devices, and adhering to current standards in educational technology, we engage children in problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative expression. A diverse community, Kullerstrand ensures a quality education through academic rigor, social-emotional learning, collaboration, and a positive school culture.
