Principal's Message

July, 2019

Dear Kullerstrand Families,

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I am ecstatic to be continuing in the Kullerstrand community as your principal.  Over the last three years as principal, I have had the privilege of working and learning with teachers, staff, students and families as we strive to prepare our students for their amazing futures.  I look forward to continuing this learning and growth with our school and community.

“We shall walk together on this path of life, for all things are part of the universe and are connected with each other to form one whole unity.” Maria Montesorri

“We Are Kullerstrand” is the foundation of our theme this year. As proud RAMS, we are a community of Creative Explorers, Dreamers, Thinkers and Learners that will strive to be the very best Writers, Artists, Scientists, Musicians, Mathematicians, Readers, Athletes, and Friends.

As we begin our new school year, we are energized and deeply committed to being a unified community.  Our teachers and staff dedicate themselves to providing our students with a safe, positive learning environment that supports their growth academically and socially.   We know that the most important ingredient for students’ learning is their classroom teacher.  At Kullerstrand, we have an amazingly talented and dedicated staff that work together to provide students with what is needed to support and challenge their learning during the school day.

We value partnerships with our parent and school community to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of all students.  We welcome and appreciate our parent and community volunteers, and encourage you to participate on Kullerstrand’s Accountability Committee and PTA.

I am excited to begin an incredible school year. Thank you for your commitment to Kullerstrand. I look forward to seeing all of you in the coming weeks.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at or by phone 303-982-1780.

Cheryl Clay, Principal

What's Happening

Emotional Development Milestones

From crying as an infant to becoming a confident kid, your child will reach many emotional development milestones in just five years. The emotional competence of children and adolescents — how they experience feelings and deal with difficult situations — is an essential part of their overall health. The coordination of loving caregivers, valuable educators, and supportive health care providers can help influence a child’s emotional development. Positive emotional development is linked to: school readiness and academic success, positive peer relations, social competence and behavioral control.

Kullerstrand is a community that nurtures and empowers the whole child. We focus on building positive relationships and instilling a passion for learning. Using one-to-one devices, and adhering to current standards in educational technology, we engage children in problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative expression. A diverse community, Kullerstrand ensures a quality education through academic rigor, social-emotional learning, collaboration, and a positive school culture.
